Welcome to Pioneer Elementary School

we are MISSION driven

At Pioneer, our learning environment exists beyond the classroom walls in socially embedded communities that promote choice and self-advocacy. Through personalized inquiry based projects and authentic experiences, learners will collaborate with multi-aged peers to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and mindsets needed to identify and solve our most pressing global issues.

Visitors meet students at Evergreen Elementary during a Focus on Education tour on Friday, Nov. 18, 2022.

We want to give a big THANK YOU to all the community members who celebrated American Education Week with PSD at our schools.

Many of you joined Artondale, Pioneer, Swift Water, and Evergreen elementary school students and educators to learn about day-to-day activities, and see our newly constructed buildings. The students enjoyed showing off their classrooms, and visitors enjoyed exploring flex spaces, seeing student art, and witnessing learning in action.

Calling all readers! You can support our youngest learners by reading in our elementary schools!

Now until Friday, Dec. 16, we are inviting guest readers to share their favorite book, or read a book provided to them, to help all children recognize the importance of literacy.

Many furry friends are getting help finding their forever families thanks to the artistic marketing created by second and third grade students at Pioneer Elementary School.

Second and third graders at Pioneer are focusing on community heroes this year as a part of their project-based learning. Art Specialist Erin Dumas wanted to inspire her students to use art as a way to be community heroes. The students researched local animal welfare organizations and decided to help support the animals at Wet Noses Foster Paws.

To celebrate American Education Week during Nov. 14 - 19, Peninsula School District is inviting the community to attend “Focus on Education” tours at four of the district’s newly constructed elementary schools:

  • Artondale Elementary;
  • Evergreen Elementary;
  • Pioneer Elementary; and
  • Swift Water Elementary.

Students will lead attendees through their school on a tour to highlight areas such as the library, commons area, community spaces, flex areas, maker spaces, and much more.

Next week, we are holding elementary and middle school parent-teacher conferences. This is a good time to talk with your child’s teacher if you think your child is experiencing reading difficulties.

Please visit the Peninsula School District’s website for early literacy parent resources and to learn how PSD supports students experiencing reading difficulties and/or dyslexia.

If you want to learn more about dyslexia, please join our parent event “Engage for Success: Dyslexia Instruction and Support in PSD” at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at Swift Water Elementary School. Register today at https://bit.ly/PSDDyslexiaFamilyNight. to let us know you’re coming!
