Welcome Back, Pathfinders!

Dear Pathfinders,

Welcome to Pioneer Elementary and the 2020-2021 school year; an inaugural year unlike any other!

I know it's going to be an incredible journey as we set off in creating a path of new learning for students; not just in this environment of remote learning, but on a trajectory focused on STEAM education and empowerment as students are challenged to ask questions and solve problems.  The year ahead is going to be great. It will also have its challenges, but I know we can accomplish anything together!

Students are scheduled to begin the 2020-2021 school year on September 8. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and as required by the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, students will start the school year in a remote platform and come back to school for in-person learning as soon as possible using a dialed approach.

As a community, our goals and priorities are the same. We value each student who walks through our doors and want each student to leave our program as empowered, energized collaborators and communicators ready to be productive, engaged citizens in our community.

We know the year ahead has many unknowns. We continue to ask for your grace, compassion, and patience as we navigate these waters. We promise to do the same for you. As we chart forward, we promise to always put the learner first, promote two-way communication and collaboration, and ensure collective responsibility for all kids.

With our current reality of circumstances having the potential to change overnight, I will provide information to families via Remind, email, social media, and our school webpage, so please ensure your information is updated in the Parent Portal so you are able to receive timely communication.

This school year will be a new journey for all of us, but please know that I am committed to keeping our students, staff, and families healthy and safe while we navigate through these uncharted waters together.

I look forward to a great year with you and your child!

Warmly,

Stephanie Strader, Principal
